Reclaim Your Heart by Yasmin Mogahed
I have mentioned
about this book before in my previous post.Ever since I saw that portion
of the book online,I knew, for sure, that I wanted to get my hands on it and have
a peak at her wiseness.Unfortunately,I couldn’t find the book at the places
that I went. However,It’s so happened that months later,a friend of my mother’s
gifted this amazing book to her.Subhanallah,it’s fascinating how the book came
to me.He gave it in an unexpected way.I only had the chance to read it recently
but it is such an amazing book.It is an eye opener and it puts you at the right
perspective. It helps you to see beyond the glittery illusions of the
world.Bless the author for sharing a wise piece of her mind to the world. If I
had the money,I would love to gift everyone in this world a copy of this masterpiece. That is how amazing it is.
There were
so many things that I learned from this book. But to highlight a few : -
*This
Dunyaa or this world is just temporary.Everything that happens in our life is a
test to bring us closer to Him.Instead of questioning the reason it happened;
“Why is this happening to me?” We need to look at it in a positive way,
“Alright, what should I do to pass this test? This test is meant to bring me
closer to Him so I should strive to improve myself. This is a wakeup call.” And
this does not only apply when we are struggling,it is also the same when we are
given gifts from Him such as wealth, health or intelligence.Do we let these
gifts get in control of us? Do we get attached to it? Do we become arrogant
because of it? When we look at the gifts,do we only think of the gifts or do we
think of the Source of the gifts and thank Him?
*Our lives
revolves around salah. And not salah revolves around our lives. This is something
that we need to often remind ourselves about. In today’s fast pace life we are
living in,we tend to put salah in the bottom of our priorities
list.Astargfirullah,we need to realise that we are breathing at this moment
because of Him,because He allows us to breathe for another second. How can we
put the One that gives us life as the least important.Leave that tv show for
five minutes, leave that phone for five minutes and attend to His call.
*The
author also addressed about one of the reasons why the five obligatory prayers
are spreaded into five different times instead of doing it consecutively – it
is because when we are about to get attached to what we are doing (worldly
matters),He calls us,He calls us to remind us about the Real reason we are
here.It does not mean we should not work hard in worldly matters but it means
that we should never get attached, obsessed, infatuated in the worldy matters
until it consume us and it results in us forgetting about the Real reason why
we’re here.
Everything
that is good is from Him and any mistakes are from me.May He bless us and
protect us.Amin.
I really
hope you will get a copy of this life changing book and as always, let’s strive
to be better and closer to Him everyday, even if it’s just taking baby steps. We
are in it together. :-)
Love,
Diyanah Nadrah
