#1 Books That Changed My Life
1. Reclaim Your Heart by Yasmin Mogahed
This was one of the first few books that made me fell in love with non fiction and self development books. I was really into Yasmin Mogahed's unique way of speaking about Islam where she incorporates psychological and self development tone, so naturally I was interested to read her book.
It revolves around the idea of putting the people that we love outside of our heart and being aware that the people that we love are blessings from Him. They are from Him and they are lent to us. With anything that is lent, there will come a day where we have to return it. It also revolves around the idea that no one is a mind reader and no one is capable to be up to our expectations perfectly, thus we shan't put our happiness on fleeting things i.e human.
Who is this for? This book is for those who: when they love someone, they love hard and wholeheartedly, someone who would keep on pouring from their empty cup, who would cross an ocean for those who would only cross a puddle for them.
Read my old post about the book here. (Excuse 18 year old Diy for her lack of spacing)
2. The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
This book made me understand the power of accumulated small actions and understanding that everything that we do everyday, mindlessly or mindfully, is a product of repeated actions and decisions that we make every single day. Understanding this, I acquire a perspective that it is possible to cultivate positive habits and that we are not bound to predefined “personality traits”. I am now more conscious of my micro action as I am aware that it can brew into a habit that would be hard to break. It revolves around the idea of identifying the triggers of the habit, the actions that follow up and the rewards that come after.
Who is this for? This is for the ones who are interested to level up their life and who aspire to be their dream selves. For the people who are in need of a boost of motivation and is interested in understanding the science behind our powerful mind.
3. The Psychology of Money by Morgan House
This is one of the first books related to finance that I read at an older age. I think it is a good first book to read to dip into the finance pool. It is not a technical book but it is more of adopting the kind of mindset to have in order to have a good relationship with money and the right mindset to build wealth. It revolves around the concept of how our spending habits have a high influence on our wealth and not just simply our monthly pay check. There are areas to save and spend. Our vision of wealth or a comfortable life might be different from one and another and that is completely fine. The main idea here is to envision the kind of life that we want and not get influenced by the Jones. I like how it highlights that our life doesn’t have to be grandiose and elaborate up to the society’s standard if that is not what we want. Just because we can afford it, doesn’t mean we need it. I’ve always liked the idea of being prosperous but remain modest to the public’s eye.
Who is this for? This is for anyone who is interested in being smarter with their money, who is about the enter adult life where you’ll be earning your own money and would like to adopt a good mindset to build wealth and aspire to be financially stable.
