A New Phase In Life

Today marks the third day of my seven day break. It has been about three months since I checked in and the only reason to that is just simply because of university work.I’ve started not too long ago and I’m already in the second month.

I’m not sure where to begin on the subject of university but one thing for sure is that it has been  a very pleasant experience so far,Alhamdulillah.I am still digesting the fact that I'm already at this phase in my life.It feels surreal sometimes as I've always fantazised about it.I can understand why people say that university is one of the best times and I’m really excited to experience more of that. The people here are genuinely nice people.I’m grateful to have met them and make them a part of my life. It's interesting and amazing how we grew so close to each other within a short time - they feel like family to me! Especially my roommates. They are the kind of friends that reminds me of akhirah and to say I am grateful for them is an understatement.

The way everything works here is significantly different from secondary school. Not just in the academic perspective but also in terms of living as well.At university,in lectures,it's common for the lecturers to just explain a topic briefly, almost just like an introduction, and that's it.You have to work on the understanding part yourself. In comparison to secondary school, the teachers will make sure that you really understand a topic, provide you with extra exercises to strengthen your understanding and even go to the extend of having extra classes after school hours. But it isn’t like that here.At university, you have to do a lot of things by yourselves.Essentially, you are the boss of your life.In my humble opinion, discipline is the vital key to survive successfully here. You need to know when to revise,to eat,to take a break and to sleep. All these decisions are in your hand which can be overwhelming sometimes. However,if you always keep in mind of the main purpose you are here, insyaAllah you'll be fine.

At university, you will meet a thousand and one kinds of people.People with different backgrounds, beliefs, principles and ways of living. It’s very easy to get carried away and get influenced by it if you’re not strong on your ground. What I am trying to address is that you should always be true to yourself, hold strong to your principles and belief, make sure you don’t betray them and always reevaluate your actions.May He protect us from everything bad in this world and hereafter, amin.

I think that is it from me for now.

May we benefit the last few days of  Ramadhan Kareem, insyaAllah. :-)

Love,
Diyanah Nadrah
